TEHRAN – Ali Akbar Velayati, a top foreign policy adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, said on Thursday that Iran ranks first among the regional powers and that the U.S. is trying to take revenge against Iran through sanctions.

He said Iran will defeat the U.S. sanctions very soon by implementing the resistance economy, adding that it will not take too much time for the Iranian people to overcome the U.S. sanctions.

The former foreign minister also said no other nation has played as much effective role as Iran in promoting Islamic civilization.
